Solvents are used in production of cannabis products including extraction and cleaning of equipment’s. Any solvent that is used in process or can come in contact with cannabis concentrates should be tested. Common solvents that are likely to contaminate the product are Iso-Butane, n-butane, propane, pentane, ethanol and heptane.

At Northern Scientific we use headspace technology coupled with mass spectrometry to test all relevant solvents listed in USP<467>,class 3 with limit of 5000ppm for each solvent.
